While I realize the science behind nature and its reproduction, most days it feels like magic to me. Something grows out of the ground and at some point produces a seed. That seed contains all the genetic information to grow another living thing. Very few things interest me as much as our natural world at this point.

As an artist, sometimes I catch myself thinking "why make that" nature does a better job. But some ideas just won't go away. I love the idea that I'm sculpting something from a living material into something that mimics nature. Wooden flowers. This is part of a new direction my work has been taking me when I'm not turning bowls or doing stone work.

I remind myself daily... not everything needs a utilitarian function... some things just need to be appreciated for their beauty

Details:

19.5" tall x 3" deep

Textured Figured Ash

Piece if finished in a Ceramic finish that requires zero maintenance...
